My mother and father taught me many things, and one of the best lessons they gave was that it took no bravery to be part of a gang, no bravery to be part of a mob. Bravery was in the person who stood up to the mob, and stood for what is right. These past few weeks, in India, we have seen an attack upon the Christian community unprecedented in recent times...church arson, coerced and paid-for re-conversions, the beating of Christians by a Hindu mob, and seemingly endless anti-Christian and anti-Muslim rhetoric. Mr. Modi himself declares Christmas Day to be Good Governance Day ...an obvious attempt to diminish, if not erase, Christmas from the calendars of the Indian consciousness. This is my last post before I sign off Facebook and fly to Bangkok to enjoy Christmas there with Tommy, and yes, in Thailand it is still known as Christmas and not Good Governance Day. India, you are dreaming of speed trains, but you are travelling a very old road to a very dark night.
