My name is Sheila Finnegan Hoppenrath. I am the youngest daughter - TopicsExpress

My name is Sheila Finnegan Hoppenrath. I am the youngest daughter of three daughters of Regina Sawyers and Gerald Finnegan. My mom Reggie was the 7th child of Blanche Rawlings Sawyers and James Sawyers. I have been working on the family genealogy for over 20 years, I have been successful on many levels with the family search and can provide factual documents for many generations for our family. I want to share all of my found information and I am trying to fine tune all the information into a cohesive story book that we will all be able to pass down to our future generations. I would like to add stories of each of our own branches and add a personal flair from our own generation. I will be attaching a questionnaire to this page that you can use to discuss your own personal information about you and your parents, grandparents, etc. I would love to include as much personal information and stories as possible, because once we are all gone, the stories of us are gone too, unless we pass them on. My mom moved away when she was very young. She lived in Virginia where she met my dad who was still in the Marine Corps. My dad was born and raised in Chicago and when he ended his service in the Marines they moved back to Chicago. We did live in Virginia for five years when I was very young, but otherwise lived in Chicago and surrounding suburbs. We visited often when we were younger, and then less frequently, as we got older. Our experiences with all the Sawyers family has always been pleasant and welcoming. Since we lived so far away I always missed the familiarity with my Sawyers family. When we visited, we were always made to feel welcome, and with some there was an instant and undeniable family connection. I hope with this project to show how similar we all are, and to help us all to know each other better, and hopefully reconnect. Every week I will throw out some questions for people to consider. Please feel free to answer what you feel comfortable with. I hope that you will feel welcome and comfortable to answer often!!!! My mom passed away in 2007. Since losing my mom I have been absolutely driven to tie up some loose ends regarding the family history and share it with anyone that is interested. More importantly, however, it is very important to me to include more personal details and stories about my mom and her siblings, and parents and aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents that illustrate their lives and to show how they lived - their times and struggles and their successes. I really want to make sure that my mom and her family are acknowledged and remembered for eternity. We are all responsible for our families legacy for all future generations. While that may sound like a very heavy responsibility, it really is very simple. It can be as easy as just documenting our existence on this planet with public documents collected on public websites. It can also be colorful and entertaining by talking about personal struggles and successes, personal feelings and experiences which proves to set you apart from everyone else. I feel that the latter method will be more interesting to future generations as we are all such unique individuals, but we are all still linked through family. Please let me know your honest thoughts . . . . . My email is [email protected]. My cell number 708-289-5270 I am open for any thoughts, questions, or suggestions you may have. Best Regards Sheila
