My new idea. For some time I have believed that we, in the Morgan Horse community, have been barking up the wrong tree in our efforts to support the breed and its place in the horse market. With very little exception, we only market Morgans to people who already have them. What we need to do is pursue new markets and new customers for the Morgan Horse. I have suggested to the association, in writing, what I am about to try to undertake myself, with your help. Obviously, they rejected it. The data analysis did not, Im told, support this approach. Here goes: I believe that there is a good market for Morgan Horses in the non-horse parenting sector. Parents, many of whom are now desperate for activities that get their kids outside and away from the internet. To access this market, I think that we need good family Morgan stories to submit to family magazines ... Not horse magazines. I am asking that people write such articles and send them to me and I will try to submit them to various parenting magazines. I am not sure how many, or which magazines even take non-staff written articles, but I figure that it is worth a shot. Articles should be short, upbeat, with a happy ending and are even better if they reflect the Morgan as helping a family or child in crisis. Pictures are also important. Please circulate this widely.
