My opinion: I just think we are investing our kids on a education system that supports others and does not validate the gifts of others, the methodologies used to validate intelligence assumes that there are those who are not intelligent, because they fail a test that does not necessarily promote their abilities. We are all relational beings and when we feel unaccepted we cave in, and further label ourselves as the other who are not intelligent or can not amount to some of the abilities others have. Academic or formal work is great, Im a product partly of that, but it should not be used exclusively to measure all spheres of intelligence. There was a time when the victorian formalised system did not exist, a group of people gathered and came up with it. And we landed with the formalised schooling we have today of sitting in one classroom with the same desks, same uniforms, same age group etc...
