My post about the old places seemed to big hit, so here we go again! There were those that rhymed like Skank & Tank, Rip & Bip, Bird dog & Dog, Monkey & Grease Monkey, and Mann, Wildman & the Budman. There were those that were called their daddy’s first name as their nickname like L.B., Kirby, and Bussey. Nicknames didn’t seem to have much pattern and not always a reason, but there are some people I’ve only ever known by their nicknames. The ones I remember named after a fruit or vegetable were sorta my favorites like Cobb, Nubbins, Tater, Punkin, Dingleberry, Butterbean, butterpea, and Peanut. However, there were nicknames that described just about every animal and insect as well like Goat, Rooster, Pony, Bee, Bull, Possum, Bear, Wolf, Catfish, Crow, Duck and Skeeter, Some of you had nicknames of mythical creatures like Frosty, Bunk, Titty Bear, Sugar Bear, Teddy Bear, Tar-Baby, Hondo, and Chocka, Who could ever forget the sincere nicknames given to those select teacher Chrome Dome, Skinny Minny, Fess, and Cousy. Let’s not forget those of you that have nicknames you’re not even sure of it’s orgin or if you do you’ll never tell like C.R., Moe, Gurt, Bubba, Dusty, Rusty, Scarlett(Male), Trixie, Joe-Bird, Rally Rim, Spongy, Pie Face, Poone and Doodle Loop. There are those that there is no doubt why they acquired their nicknames like Cotton, Tree, Tiny, Slim, Stumps, Stretch, Pops, and Cowboy. What’s wrong girls you feeling left out? How about Rara, Cateyes, Sue-Bee, Suzy-Q, Bo Peep, Banana (Don’t Ask), Sweatpea(Honey Bear Lady) Dino, Cotter, Mullet, and Guess Who? I loved them all, but my 2 most favorite nicknames/characters from back in the day were Uncle Dick and Scrub Nasty. Feel free to add to the list! Enjoy!
