My prediction is that 1) Apple and most other MP3 player makers will adopt FLAC and other lossless formats to compete with Phono, 2) the Studios will welcome the change (they get more control with copyright protection AND they can get people to buy the same stuff theyve already bought in MP3) and 3) within 5 years they wont be making ANY new CDs. Everything new will be bought online in either MP3 or high-fi, lossless, digital formats (for those who wish to pay more for the quality). In the meantime, collectors like me will continue to buy CDs and convert them to both MP3s AND high quality losseless like FLAC so that we can play them on both our portables and on our home systems.
