My project this week. Its a table runner with 2 layers of insulbrite plus a layer of batting, my idea being its safe to serve hot dishes without damaging the table finish. Lots of firsts...first time using a walking foot; first time using the automated stippling feature on my machine; first time stitching in the ditch; first time making my own binding AND making mitered corners (after someone made a snide remark when I said my least favorite part of quilting was binding, I felt compelled to try this out). Still need to hand stitch the back of the binding after I figure out the appropriate stitching to use. Its not perfect, but for so many firsts, Im very pleased with the outcome of this. I really like the pattern I made up for it. (Cant wait to see what it looks like once Ive washed it!)
