My shop is my kitchen table and a couple of hand saws and a selection of clamps. I live in an apartment and cant accommodate power tools due to noise and space. (I do most of my projects late at night and on weekends.) So Ive been limited in my projects. Im looking to add basic joinery so I can make small boxes, more elaborate game boards, frames, and other small projects. So I was thinking to add a set of chisels, a set of planes, and a dremel. (Im looking for lifetime tools or mid-grade tools that I wouldnt have to upgrade for years, not necessarily a starter set to upgrade later.) Any suggestions on brands or strategies. Im in an area where I can find antique tools, which Im interested in, but I dont know enough about antique plane blades - can you still get them? What do you need to sharpen them? So some thoughts on building up a quiet and portable shop would be appreciated.
