My sister is recovering from cancer surgery in hospital today and is preparing for radiotherapy and despite this, she is proving to be the strongest and most inspiring person I have ever met. Her inner strength puts me to complete shame. She’s still grateful today because she knows that in anyone’s world, just waking up in the morning is a gift, a complete privilege. Today, in Peshawar, parents are burying their children. In Sydney, families are grieving needless deaths. Kerri knows she has hope, a health care system that’s paid for by the state and friends and family around her. She knows she’ll recover fully and she is grateful for every message she has received in the past few days. People will no doubt think Im posting this for attention, and that’s fair enough… For the record, I’m not. I’m posting it because I want everyone to know how proud I am of my sister. She’s my hero x
