My sisters and I planned this caching trip with purpose. this portion of Holly Recreation area is where we grew up and played. These lands were granted to our great grandparents before the civil war and even before Michigan was a state. Over the decades and more than a century the property was reduced to a 20 acre plot surrounded by this beautiful state land. As children we treated it as our very very very big back yard. We would disappear in those woods and ponds from morning until night. we blazed some of those trails with our imaginations and various toys. Tomorrow would have been my Mothers 80th birthday and we try to do something in memory of her every year. When I saw these caches published I so wanted to hike out here in the wee hours of the morning to tromp our old homestead but decided that a trip down memory lane or trail with my sisters would be a great way to tribute my Mom. So My oldest sister, who incidentally was the one to introduce me to geocaching and my younger sister spent a very hot morning finding familiar landmarks and many new ones. Thank you for the time and energy it took to give a glimpse into my childhood.
