My take on corruption in my dear country. It is a well known - TopicsExpress

My take on corruption in my dear country. It is a well known fact that the legislators have the peoples mandate to check, analyze, scrutinize and even sanction the activities of the executives and the judiciary. The legislators suppose to be the voice of the voiceless, to represent and protect the poorest members of his/her constituency in issues relating to his/her life and well-being. However, its very sad and unfortunate that our so-called legislators are equally as guilty as the executive and the judiciary in perpetuating and encouraging the demon called corruption. The Nigerian legislator is only concerned about how to enrich him or herself at the detriment of his/her people that voted him/her. Its not surprising that the presidency has form the habit of disregarding any resolution passed by the National Assembly after the probe of any corruption case because they are all feathers of the same bird. Nigeria can never progress or develop with the current level of corruption and impunity because corruption give rise to insecurity, poverty, injustice and unemployment. Hence, for us to develop as a nation we need to sanitize the polity by eradicating corruption. And these can only be achieve if we have vibrant, intelligent, smart, focus, courageous, patriotic, energetic, responsible, sensitive, and credible legislators that are willing to make the necessary sacrifice to check mate the excesses of the Presidency, executive and the judiciary. To this end, the current set of legislators have failed Nigerians woefully and it is about time we vote them out come 2015 and replace them with those we believe can make significant impact in our lives in terms of fighting corruption and safe guarding of our lives and property. In conclusion, I am calling on all youths from all sociocultural and religious background to do away with sentiments and hatred to unite with one voice in order to champion the course for a more prosperous Nigeria that we can be proud of for the sake of our children and generation to come. Remember, our numeric strength as youth give us the leverage and edge to decide how we want to be govern and hence lets make use of our strength wisely and productively.
