My take on the concert last night in Denver: - TopicsExpress

My take on the concert last night in Denver: AWESOMENESS. Although, in general, the acoustics at the Pepsi Center are horrible for concerts, I was in the 3rd row off to the right so they were better than I thought they were going to be---at least for me. EJ was wearing his Madman jacket and the band members were all sharply dressed in mostly black, and Matt with his cool hat. From my perspective up front, it seemed like the crowd was fabulous. He even thanked some guys right up front for being so enthusiastic. They were dancing and hootin and hollerin the entire show. :) The couple next to me was seated alot of the time, looked quite bored and I even spied the guy yawning. My oh my...the 3rd row at an EJ concert and they wasted the seats. I had never been on that side of the stage so it was a pleasure watching Davey, Matt, Nigel and John. I do miss Bob Birch---so talented and fun to watch. Davey was wonderful---the quintessential rockstar guitar god. He and Matt were hamming it up with each other a lot. EJ’s voice was spot on beautiful. It still melts in my ears. I’m a background vocal snob and have always loved how the harmonies are synched with his voice and the melodies. Since I was in the 3rd row, I got to rush the stage and ended up right in front of Elton and got to hear 7 songs from there. We were all smashed together---sweating, jumping, singing, laughing and loving our idol Elton. I love watching Kim and his expressions; I always wonder if the new guys in the band really know what they’re getting into---touring with a legend like EJ and seeing his crazy fans go more crazy. In the end, in addition to just the most awesome evening, I got a high-five and EJ signed my 1976 Rolling Stone magazine. (And I have a video of him signing it!) My advice: If you are a rabid fan like me (been there from the beginning in the early ‘70s but I didn’t start seeing him in concert until 1992, this was my 21st concert, 3 autographs, several high-fives, onstage in Vegas with him 3 times), spend the money to get as close to the stage as you can. It’s an entirely different experience up there and you have a shot at getting a high-five, an autograph and even some fun looks from EJ. But then you also run the risk of getting addicted to his live shows and end up living your life for the next EJ“fix.” Elton rulz....as we all know.
