My tech prediction for 2015: Qualcomm or Samsung to buy AMD. With AMDs value shrinking and with Qualcomm and Samsung both having a stockpile of cash, a takeover by either company would be a very smart move indeed. The buyer would gain top-flight technical expertise, the Radeon division, and a foothold in the server market (the Holy Grail for the ARM architecture). An outside bet would be a takeover by Apple (it has more cash than either of the two above), but would it be wise to sever ties with Intel? Maybe it could asset-strip the Radeon division -- GPUs are a major part of its mobile SoCs that it doesnt currently develop in-house -- and flog the rest off. See if Im wrong. ;)
