My time in Ferguson has been nothing but a series of blessings. I - TopicsExpress

My time in Ferguson has been nothing but a series of blessings. I did not witness hate or violence (except from police). In fact, I witnessed such an outpouring of love and camaraderie that is unmatched. Each person we met, each community we encountered welcomed us in with open arms and hearts. Last night we ate dinner with a group of cop watch folks, activists, preachers, young people from all over and locals who supported one another, lifted each other up, and sang protest chants with serious jubilation, with undying energy. We interrupted Walmart and Target in their early Black Friday rush with lines of aggressive police and attack dogs charging towards us but we linked arms, stayed strong, sang and shouted truth and defiance. We dont accept the violence against black and brown communities. We dont accept the violence of big box stores with unfair labor practices that demolish local economies. We want justice. Today we visited Mike Browns memorial again in the cold bright sunlight, the snow had melted. As we began to sing, a trumpets sweet high notes rang out and a preacher, Eugene, had joined us. He played Freedom Over me, This little Light of Mine, When the Saints. I began in tears and then was elevated to laughter and dancing by the end of our spontaneous sidewalk church service. Thank you people of Ferguson. We are with you. We love you. I will never forget the spirit I saw here.
