My typical 10km run (25 laps around a 400m) track: (1) The first 2km is usually run at sub 5m/km pace, gung-ho and fresh (2) second 2km is usually about maintaining the 5m/km pace (3) third 2km i.e. 4-6km is usually the dead zone where my pace falls below 5m/km (4) fourth 2km is when I start picking up the pace to get back to 5m/km (5) depending on how much energy I have left, final 2km is usually when I speed up to make up for the slow 4-6km and try to end with a 1.35 to 1.40 final lap. Target time is about 50 minutes with variations of + / - 2 minutes fairly common. How about u? What does your 10km run look like?
