My youngest sister got into a car accident last night right on the 101 Fwy. Fortunately, shes alive, shaken, but alive. Thank you, God. Thank you... As I listened to her through tears and sobs on the phone, all I could think about was being GRATEFUL. As her oldest sister, I had to stay strong for her. Quietly, tears of joy rolled down my cheeks, grateful that although her car was a total wreck, she came out alive. I reminded her that shes fully covered and that her car can be replaced. Your LIFE, once lost cannot be replaced by insurance even if you have full comp and collision. After the call, I couldnt help but go back to that feeling of Gratefulness again. When Challenge masks itself as some kind of hopeless adversity basked in burning fire and unbearable heat, there are times when Life manages to somehow give us a SECOND CHANCE to walk away from it, at times, physically unscathed. Flashbacks of what happened will be painful, no doubt, your heart bruised from endless wishful thinking of what could have or should have, if only you did what you could have done, or if only you could turn back those stubborn hands of time. I get that. Weve all been there, right? But guess what? Challenges can also give us the opportunity to be GRATEFUL that those bruises, maybe even those burns will heal. Just like Relationships. Its YOUR choice. Our society perpetuates covering up our uglyscars. But what if, for a moment, you REFRAME your MINDSET and look at those ugly scars as permanent beauty marks to remind you that you SURVIVED lifes challenges and came out a Winner? Wouldnt that be awesome?! My beautiful sister came out alive. She is strong. But I also know that her strength is what makes her beautiful inside and out.
