NDTV today held a debate on gender bias , a fashionable phenomenon emerging in Indian society . No doubt that the anchor Naghma conducted it in forceful manner . After a long time I have seen such a debate ! The penalist were AMU PRO Dr. Rahat Abrar, Actress Pooja Bedi, Kamal Farooqui,, Kamala and Mariyam Shaheen. I wish to comment on only two persons . The Times of India has been banned in AMU campus in the wake over controversy on statement of Vice Chancellor AMU Zameeruddin Shah about entry of a section of girls in MA Library. The anchor pointed out that . Kamal Farooqui crticised the ban in strong terms . And why he should not have ? He has to survive with help from media. Dr. Rahat Abrar forcefully defended the ban and told audience in his very sophisticated voice that, the feelings of the students and other people in campus have hurt by the reporting of concerned reporter . He further added that during her one and half years deputation at Aligarh , the reporter just indulged in maligning the AMU and even Editor was reported about that. My opinion is that Independent Media did not exist in India. And when there is no independent media then the logic of freedom of expression or media are meaningless. Barriong only two dailies , all dailies and whole electronic media ( except NDTV ) has already decalered that , the media will not join BJP but will continue its support top it from out side . My last comment is that , if one want to understand AMU , he or she must visit campus with free mind , live here, take tea at dhabas , roam here and there then decide about it.
