NEGLIGENCE OF PHARMA SECTOR BY GOVERNMENT. We always talk about inflation.Cost of everything is gone up whether it is food/cosmetics/fruits/groceries/electronics/train and bus fares etc.wWe all show sympathy for farmers/employees of other sectors. But the cost of medicines has gone down.As a msr in 1990-92,i was selling ofloxacin-200 @ rs 20 ,now it is 3-4 rs,amp+cloxa cap @ rs 5-6,now it is rs 2.50,cefatoxime/ceftriaxone @ rs 200,now it is rs 20-25.list is endless and government is reducing it further every year as per drug policy. And above that 10 new companies are introduced every month apart from generic and propaganda companies are launched every day creating a price war resulting in lowering the prices further.Salaries of pharma professionals have not increased in ratio of other sectors. Top 50 companies control 85% of market share(rs 67000 crores out of total market of rs 79000 crores annually) leaving only 12000 crores to 24000 registered companies(unregisterd/propaganda companies are separate).Average business comes out to rs 50 lacs per annum for these companies. It is becoming difficult for these companies to get good people, retain good people as they are unable to pay salaries /expenses on time, invest on business promotion and ultimately closing the business making their employees coming on road suddenly. Had there been no DPCO,indian pharma market size must have been atleast 3 times biggerand must have helped many companies to pay better salaries to their staff.Medical fees/pathological fees/nursing home charges have increased more than 10 times since 1990 and patients are affording it.Why a control on prices of medicines only? I know many people will not agree.if price control is done on food grains/vegetables,people will get good quality rice/wheat/vegetables,they will be more healthy and will require less medicines.when all other sector employess including govt employees get numerous benefits, why pharma professionals are deprived of these benefits?
