NEW NEWS (GARANG JOHN WITH SSTVS THE AGENDA): (This interview is abridged...summarized...) GARANG: ...will you not lose your job for supporting Federalism...? GOV. BAKOSORO: ...Its the system demanded by South Sudanese since 1947...! GARANG: ...the rebels claim federalism, are you not beating the drum for them....? GOV. BAKOSORO: ...The fact that we meet in the market buying the same suit does not make us friends with other buyers... GARANG: ...With war going on now, are you not inciting the public with this federalism talk...? GOV. BAKOSORO: ...Incitement to conflict is when you suppress people from expressing their views... GARANG: ...with Addis Ababa talks, whats your view on transitional government....? GOV. BAKOSORO: ...Ive no idea what that means...! How can you put together a legitimate government (Kiirs) with the illegitimate one (Rieks). ...But I dont have an opinion on this.... *************************** MEANWHILE, THIS IS WHAT GURTONGS EDITOR SAID ON HIS WALL... Jacob Jiel Akol about an hour ago · I received the following information from Juba this morning: FYI, two newspapers, Al-maugif and The Juba Monitor have so far been ceased by the security because of publishing articles on federalism. Al-maugif an Arabic newspaper which is known by its original name Al-masier were ceased on Monday 30th while The Juba Monitor were ceased this morning. Having been receiving phone calls from strange individuals purporting to work for the security giving verbal directives to Editors to stop publishing articles on federalism, Editors came together on Monday 30th and wrote a letter to the Information Minister Michael Makuei informing him about the threats and asking him whether this directive from the security is part of the government policy. Makuei, in a press conference yesterday denied the governments hand in this directive from the security, saying whoever is calling these Editors is an enemy of the government. Suppose we accept Minister Makueis assertion that whoever is calling these editors is an enemy of the government, who, then are these people seizing publications mentioned above because of publishing articles on federalism? Are they security personnel or enemies of the state. If they are enemies of the state and not security personnel, where are the security personnel as enemies of the state are undermining the government openly by seizing publications? Please Minister Makuei, lets be serious just for a bit! Are the state security officers the ones you are talking about? If so, who is running the country, government or security?
