NEWS FROM THE THE DESK OF OUR KEEPER: Dave Bollinger After months of planning and preparation I have exciting news. The stabilization project at the front light is underway! I went out yesterday and things are progressing well. If the weather holds up the project should be finished by the end of next week. The National Restoration crew is staying on Harsens Island and they are really knocking this out. They have already ground out 90% of the mortar seams and have removed much of the old yellow paint. They will be repairing the structural cracks today and will be applying new mortar next week. Things are looking really good out there. I will be writing up a summary with additional pictures and posting on our Facebook page soon. Take care, Dave
