NEWS LOCAL CRIME Trial transcripts requested in fatal stabbing at Modesto park Defense attorneys on Tuesday asked for trial transcripts in the case of three defendants convicted in the fatal robbery at an east Modesto park. A jury in late November found Juan Garcia, Jacob Segura and Taylor Koplen guilty of murder in the stabbing of Tylor Crippen at Creekwood Park in east Modesto. The defense attorneys are preparing to challenge the verdicts for Garcia and Segura, since they appeared to be inconsistent. The jury found Jacob Segura and Juan Garcia guilty of murder during an attempted robbery, but the jurors also found them not guilty of attempting to rob Crippen and his girlfriend. The prosecution will argue that the jury’s verdict was consistent with the law and that the murder convictions for all three defendants should stand. On Tuesday, the defense attorneys said they wanted transcripts of the trial, from jury selection to the verdicts. Stanislaus Superior Court Judge Dawna Reeves scheduled the defendants to return to court April 10 to schedule a hearing where their attorneys can challenge the verdicts. The defendants remain in custody at the jail.
