NEWS UPDATE FROM NORASPORT 2015 CHAMPIONSHIP 2015 British Supermoto Championship – News update As soon as the final round of the 2014 season ended at Cadwell Park planning started on the 2015 season. After a really successful and enjoyable 2014 we want to make 2015 even bigger and better. However a lot of our efforts in planning next years events have been frustrated by one major issue – noise! In trying to secure new and better venues for racing we have been constantly thwarted by our reputation as a noisy branch of motorsport. Circuits have either allocated their often-reduced numbers of noisy days to pre-existing championships (as we get preference at 3 Sisters) or have simply refused to book us. Lydd for instance would only offer us a date in early March and refused to accept a premium payment from us for a later date. We have effectively lost Blyton (to solo’s at least) for this year, an almost unthinkable situation until the very recent past. It is going to be incumbent on competitors to ensure that their bike will pass the current ACU noise test for 2015. Many people equate noise with power – this is simply not true, we have noted that some of the fastest bikes on track this year have been the quietest as well. We are currently working on some revised technical regulations for exhaust specifications and these will be communicated separately. On a more positive note we are pleased to announce that the ACU have renewed the contract with NoraSport to run the British Supermoto Championship for a further five years. This demonstrates the regard our organisation is held in and in particular the ACU was very impressed with our efforts to encourage new riders with the various initiatives that ran in 2014. All riders will need an ACU licence for 2015 and our Nora membership forms which generate a unique code for renewing your licence will be available on-line shortly. Another renewal that we are pleased to announce is the continued support for our sport by Michelin. For 2015 Michelin will continue as our sole control tyre and we look forward to an even closer working relationship with the UK team in 2015. Our dates have been submitted to the factory so that they can schedule production to make sure box fresh tyres are in plentiful supply for each meeting. Michelin are also developing new products and now have a Supermoto specific 16” front tyre in production. Broadly speaking all classes will remain similar to 2014 however we will be developing a number of extra championships for next season and we are looking to incorporate a two stroke class, a novice/clubman class and a over 45’s class. More details will follow early in the New Year. Warm up and 2014 Presentation evening – The first date for everyone’s diaries is Saturday March 14 at 3 Sisters. We will be holding a warm up meeting similar to last year’s successful event and in the evening we have again booked the excellent Ashton in Makerfield Golf Club venue to hold our awards evening. With more notice we are hoping it will be an even bigger success than last year and there will be again secure overnight camping facilities at 3 Sisters. Our calendar is now almost complete and to let people start planning their year we are announcing our provisional calendar. We are pretty certain the dates will remain the same and we are just waiting for a final confirmation of contracts from a couple of venues. N.B. Superlites will have a couple of different venues from the solos and this has been emailed to your directly and is available to view on superlite.co.uk PROVISIONAL RACE CALENDAR – 2015 14 MARCH – WARM UP – 3 SISTER 5/6 APRIL ROUND 1 3 SISTERS 2/3 MAY ROUND 2 ROWRAH 30/31 MAY ROUND 3 T.B.C. 20/21 JUNE ROUND 4 REDNAL 18/19 JULY ROUND 5 3 SISTERS 8/9 AUGUST ROUND 6 TEESSIDE 12/13 SEPT ROUND 7 LYDDEN HILL 3/4 OCTOBER ROUND 8 3 SISTERS 31 OCT/1 NOV ROUND 9 CADWELL PARK From all the team at NoraSport HQ we would like to wish all our competitors, past, present and future a very Merry Christmas and a fantastic year of racing in 2015.
