NEWS UPDATES AT 7 O’CLOCK WITH ORANGE. Private sectors in Uganda have started discussions on pooling resources to fund government projects and also expand the private sector in order to lower business costs. During the Uganda-Rwanda Business Forum Rwanda’s president Paul Kagame noted that it was high time the two countries organized themselves and pooled resources for investments. Ministry of health has revealed that the 11samples of patients suspected of having contracted Marburg have tested negative for the disease and also Ebola. The Head of Surveillance and Epidemiology Department in the Ministry of Health, Dr Issa Makumbi, says the results indicate that there is no Marburg outbreak as it was feared after the death of a health worker who had the viral infection. However, the ministry remains on high alert tracing people who may have been in contact with the deceased Marburg victim. A total of 99 contacts had been identified as of yesterday evening and the ministry will continue tracking possible contacts for the next 21 days. Ministry of health urges the public to be on the watch and observe precautionary measures to avoid the spread of the disease. Authorities in Kasese District have launched an intensive sensitization campaign about Marburg, a hemorrhagic fever with similar symptoms to Ebola following reports of an outbreak in the country. The outbreak was linked to the death of a 30-year-old hospital technician Ibrahim Bwambale, who died of marburg last weekend in Mengo hospital. Ten suspected terrorists, who were recently arrested from Kisenyi in Kampala while hatching plans to attack Uganda, have been remanded to Luzira Maximum Security prison. Their remand by Buganda Road Court comes two weeks after prosecution had formally applied to court to have the suspects further detained at Kirekas Special Investigations Unit (SIU) for further investigations, which the state said could not be done while at Luzira. On October 23rd they will appear before court for mentioning of their case. A prominent World Health Organisation official has warned that more Ebola cases can be expected among medical staff - even in developed countries with modern health care systems. Professor Peter Piot said that he was not surprised that a Spanish nurse had contracted the disease. The nurse has become the first person known to have contracted the deadly virus outside West Africa. She treated two Spanish missionaries who died of Ebola in Madrid. The nurse, identified in media reports as Teresa Romero, looked after the pair after they were repatriated from West Africa. She remains in quarantine in the Spanish capital with her husband and 50 other people in Spain are being monitored. RADIOCITY NEWS: BRINGING THE WORLD CLOSER TO YOU!
