NGCB Supports Team PNG The National Gaming Control Board (NGCB) has given its support to Team PNG with K200,000 to participate at Pacific Mini Games in Wallis & Futuna in September. The presentation was made by Ms Imelda Agon, Acting CEO of NGCB to the Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee Secretary General, Mrs Auvita Rapilla during a Press Conference today in Port Moresby. In presenting the cheque, Ms Agon wished the team every success and encouraged them to do PNG proud at the Mini-Games. “The National Gaming Control Board is more than happy to support Team PNG for the Pacific Mini-Games and we hope that this contribution will contribute to our athletes’ performances and success in Wallis & Futuna.” Mrs Rapilla said NGCB’s contribution is very timely as the Secretariat and General Management Team led by Chef De Mission Richard Kassman is finalising arrangements for the Team’s travel. “It will cost K2.8m to send this Team and we are grateful to National Gaming Control Board who is also a Platinum sponsor of the PNG Olympic Committee, for their contribution,” she said. As of close of entries last Friday 19th July, we will be sending a Contingent of 195 (148 athletes and 47 officials (includes General Team Management & Medical Team) to the Pacific Mini Games to participate in eight sports. These games will be the only opportunity for our sports on the program to gauge their level of performance against the rest of the Pacific before 2015 Pacific Games. In addition to the Team PNG Contingent, 19 Technical Officials have been accepted by Wallis & Futuna Games Organising Committee to officiate at the Games and an opportunity to build their capacity for 2015.
