NIGERIA TODAY A Country surrounded by sea, with plenty mineral resources to be shared among her populace. Nigeria came into existence in the year 1960, when she finally got licence to govern herself by the citizenry from the colonial masters. The name, Nigeria was formed from Niger Area by Miss Flora Shaw. Our great nationalists fought so hard to free us from the hold of our white oppressors and tormentors. Finally, in the year 1960, liberation came and we began to rule ourselves. The crux of the matter is how far have we gone in making Nigeria a better state, to be compared with the rest of the world as a civilized and strong black nation from the Western Africa? Our economy has been bad. It keeps declining all the time, it has never been in a stable form. What about our educational system? In fact, there is no hope for the common Nigerians who want to go to school. There is no constant power supply and there are no good roads and no adequate health system. The government has not provided employment for the people, which has caused idleness among we the citizens, thereby creating room for social menaces and disorderliness in the state. Different men have ruled from the year of independence till date, some are dead, while some are living, yet we experience stagnation in development. So many things have gone wrong, so many lives and properties have been wasted and burnt by the Boko guys. Which way Nigerians? I call on Nigerians to come lets join hands to use what we have to get what we want. Already our nation is blessed.
