NIGERIAN ELECTIONS 2015: UK CAMPAIGN GROUP ADOPTS ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (APC) AS THE BEST PARTY TO LEAD NIGERIA. (READ AND LEAVE COMMENTS) London 29th October 2014 It would have been sixteen years by 2015 since the present democratic journey started in Nigeria. For all of this period the PDP has been in power at the center. The party has also in these years controlled over two-third of the states’ government and their legislature. Despite its enormous power spread the party has not seriously tackled any of the big challenges that the country is locked in. There is no aspect of Nigerias public live that have noticed significant improvements. Under PDP the educational system continues to churn out ill educated and unemployable graduates. The hospitals remain miserably ill equipped. Roads and transport system remain in dilapidated condition. Security of lives and properties of citizens continue to elude the PDP government. All public institutions of the state, including the judiciary are stripped of their powers and left naked. In return, Nigerians have witnessed an unlimited stealing of public assets, ineptitude and salacious details of debauchery in high places. Shameless exploitation of the nation’s fault lines of religion and ethnicity has been the modus operandi of the (PDP) government. The concept of law and order for PDP are completely lost. Constitutional provisions are treated as null and void as the financially induced Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) campaigns with reckless abandon. Paraphrasing Pius Adesanmi of Sahara Reporters, the world now regard the orangutans and meerkats (bush animals) as having better understanding of the utility of rules (order) than PDP and their acolytes. Why should Nigeria through official imbecility continue to provide alibi to the Europeans, Arabs and Asian racists for their utter contempt of the black race, of which it is the largest single entity? We have had enough of it, and it is time for change. We of the Nigeria 2015 Group believe that sixteen years is enough time for a serious party to re-engineer and make good Nigeria, or at least show its serious intention to re-order the country for good. PDP has failed to do so. Ask any seriously minded Nigerian, not the ignoramuses that prance at illegal and offending TAN rallies, what they think of four more years of a PDP government? The answer would be - despair and God forbid! Frankly, it should not take more than sixteen years for any rational government to make quantifiable improvement in energy generation (electricity supply), to improve the health system, generate good number of jobs for the roaming army of unemployed youths, and take a serious stab at corruption. The PDP government is evidently out of its depth in crafting a decent society. We therefore ask Nigerians as a sign of national duty to dump them at the next election. Nigeria 2015 Group is therefore declaring support for, and calls on all Nigerians to support the APC as the only viable alternative to saving Nigeria from total collapse. Our reasons for this call are; • Sixteen years is too long for a country to exist in an economic and moral wasteland. • Any viable democracy must exercise the power to change government and parties as, and when necessary. • Democracy grows and develops when it is competitive and the chances of winning or losing are reasonably equal for all the participants. • Too many years in power breeds incompetence or exacerbates it, as in the case of PDP, which for the sake of Nigeria’s survival, need to be pushed from its electoral utopia to dystopia. • Losing breeds air of realism for the self conceited powerful and conversely, it gives confidence to the poor who seek elective positions. • Nigeria needs to be saved before it buckles under the weight of unbridled corruption and impunity. • The fanatical endorsements of candidates encouraged by PDP are undemocratic attempts to perpetuate reprobates in power. • Even if APC may not be the most ideal alternative, it is the best we have in our peculiar circumstances to demonstrate to the world that we are keen in developing and strengthening our democracy. • Remember this; the grudging denials PDP make after accusations and the exposure of each of their reprehensible acts are due to APC’s boldness. • APC will be completely off its mind to allow the country descend lower than the depth at which PDP has taken it. • APC deserves the chance to prove itself, and if it fails, there would be an opportunity to throw them out at the next elections. Having decided that Nigeria needs an urgent change, as a campaign group, we shall be canvassing and mobilising our Diaspora constituency and international support for APC once its sellable presidential candidate is known. We shall be willing to advise on how votes can be guarded and on campaign strategies by pulling on our experiences from some advanced liberal democracies. For now, all we require of APC is for it to be intelligent in its choice of candidates so that Nigerians will be better served. God bless Nigeria.
