NO SERIOUS TALKS GOING ON WITH BJP, SAYS PDP SRINAGAR – Rejecting the reports of any final agreement about government formation with the Bharatiya Janata Pary (BJP), the single largest Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday said that no serious deliberations have so far taken place for the formation of the new government in Jammu and Kashmir. Party’s chief spokesman – Naeem Akhtar – said that the party was in no formal talks with the BJP at present, though there have been the ‘informal’ contacts taking place with all the political parties. Akhtar was quick to add that efforts were on for the formation of the stable government in Jammu and Kashmir. “There are no formal talks going on between BJP and PDP. Negotiations with all the parties are on so far no break through is being witnessed,” Akhtar told KA-O. He added that there were informal contacts but the serious and the final agreements are yet to take place so that hung assembly could end in Jammu and Kashmir after the state elections of 2014. The fractured verdict, which was announced on December 23, accorded no party the required seats to form the government on their own. The result has divided the seat share among ideological and regional rivals who have little common ground to stitch together an alliance. Peoples Democratic Party this time has won 28 seats and has gained seven seats as compared to the last elections. BJP has gained 14 seats this time as earlier that party had 11 members in the assembly.
