NOT FOR PUBLIC VIEW: A fool utters all his mind, but a wise man keeps it in till afterwards. - Prov. 29:11. So he said to them, Please hear this dream which I have dreamed: There we were, binding sheaves in the field. Then behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright; and indeed your sheaves stood all around and bowed down to my sheaf. And his brothers said to him, Shall you indeed reign over us? Or shall you indeed have dominion over us? So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words. Then he dreamed still another dream and told it to his brothers, and said: Look, I have dreamed another dream. And this time, the sun, the moon, and the eleven stars bowed down to me. So he told it to his father and his brothers; and his father rebuked him and said to him, What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall your mother and I, and your brothers indeed come to bow down to the earth before you? And his brothers envied him, but his father kept the matter in mind. - Gen. 37:6-11. That night some shepherds were in the fields outside the village, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lords glory surrounded them. They were terribly frightened, but the angel reassured them. He said: Dont be afraid, I bring you good news of great joy for everyone! The Saviour, the Messiah, the Lord, has been born tonight in Bethlehem, the city of David! And this is how you will recognize him: You will find a baby lying in a manger, wrapped snugly in strips of cloth! Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others, the armies of heaven praising God: Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to all whom God favours. When the angels had returned to heaven, the shepherds said to each other: Come on, lets go to Bethlehem! Lets see this wonderful thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about. They ran to the village and found Mary and Joseph. And there was the baby, lying in the manger. Then the shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this child. All who heard the shepherds story were astonished, but Mary kept these things in her heart and thought about them often.
