NOT THAT ANYONE CARES BUT HERE ARE MY ACADEMY AWARDS THOUGHTS. First of all, in a year with so many really fine movies, whats best is truly ridiculous. How I judge a movie is what do I say to my wife when we leave the theatre. Now that was one damn great movie. Really loved it. Thats very different than best movie. Here is what I believe the academy will pick in different categories and what I enjoyed most. BEST PICTURE-12 YEARS A SLAVE. My most enjoyable were Nebraska, Llwenn Davis, American Hustle, Dallas Buyers Club, Her and Gravity. BEST ACTOR- MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY, I agree but loved Bruce Dern. BEST ACTRESS- CATE BLANCHETT, Cant be beat BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR- JARED LETO, But you cant ignore Barkhad Abdi BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS-JENNIFER LAWRENCE, Nobody else close BEST ANIMATED FEATURE- THE WIND RISES BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY-GRAVITY, But loved the 60s look of Llewyn Davis. BEST DIRECTING-12 YEARS A SLAVE, Gravity was far more mind-blowing though. BEST DOCUMENTARY-20 FEET FROM STARDOM. GREAT. BEST FILM EDITING-GRAVITY, No equal BEST SOUND EDITING- GRAVITY BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM-THE GREAT BEAUTY, But I loved THE PAST far more though which wasnt even nominated. BEST SHORT FILM- HELIUM, Short or long, one of the best films of the year. BEST VISUAL EFFECTS- GRAVITY BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY- 12 YEARS, but BEFORE MIDNIGHT was better BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY-AMERICAN HUSTLE, but every other nominee was just as good. SO, THERE YOU GO.
