NOT TO MISS! At 4.30pm TODAY the Noosa Local Community Radio 101.3FM (noosacommunityradio.org/) will have an INTERVIEW with BILL McKay Designer of the Noosa Botanic Gardens Amphitheater. The only Greek inspired open air amphitheater in Australia Residents and Families of the Sunshine Coast have enjoyed great entertainment, concerts, musicals and plays over the last 17 years in the Amphitheater of the Noosa Botanic Gardens. Few people would have the audacity to envision a classic Greek open air amphitheater - probably the only one in Australia - and at Cooroy of all places. When Ida Duncan started developing the idea, she won support for it because a lot of people approved of what she was doing for the local charities, and they could understand how Idas Dream might become a unique community asset - The Noosa Journal,Oct 26, 2000 Construction material was donated by PGH brick works and the design by Bill McKay. Construction work on the Amphitheatre was finally finished in 1997 Today the Amphitheatre is a tourist attraction where visitors can rest in its tranquillity and embrace the natural beauty of Lake Macdonald and surrounding Gardens. This year the Noosa Botanic Gardens will commemorate its 25th Anniversary. Friends of Noosa Botanic Gardens will be planning several events to celebrate the occasion.
