DATE: 7.6.2014 FROM: TNIO EXECUTIVE TO: All TNIO Gallant members SUBJECT: Greening Kumi update Dear members, Following the TNIO executive online meeting held on Tuesday 3rd, regarding the above subject, the executive dispatched, Okello Samuel Isenge, to Kumi on a mission to discuss the details of the ‘Greening Kumi” event due to take place on the 5th July 2014. His mission was successful in the following ways: 1. The date for the event has been confirmed with district leaders as 5th July 2014. 2. Letters about the event were shared with relevant district leaders including: RDC, CAO, LC5, Town Clerk, Mayor, Environment Office, District Environment Officer, Secretary Education, Head teacher Kumi Girls. 3. He met the officers in Kumi that will be directly responsible for coordinating with TNIO namely; the Inspector of schools & the Environment Officer. 4. Schools and specific locations for the tree planning were identified including; Kapokin PS (opp Atutur Hospital), Kumi Girls, Kumi Primary and Bishop Maraka SS. Some of these schools have land already prepared. 5. A commitment for sustainability and continuity of the project intervention has been obtained by Kumi District Local Government, undertaking to execute MOUs with the benefiting schools. So, our target now is about 1,000 trees in each of these schools. TNIO executive counts on each of you members to give generously to; 1. Support this event 2. Attend in person during the tree planting 3. Mobilize other TNIO members and well-wishers to participate. An updated list of all members that have contributed shall be shared.
