****NOTICE: Sheridan College Martinsen Art Gallery is currently accepting applications to exhibit work from local and regional artists. The goals of the Martinsen Art Gallery are to present exhibits to stimulate the appreciation and knowledge of art, introduce and encourage local artists, and provide community enrichment. The Martinsen Art Gallery is located in the Administrative Wing of the E. A. Whitney Academic Center, near the President’s office. Martinsen Art Gallery exhibits are free to the public. Applications for the use of the Martinsen Art Gallery are available from Misty Bateman; Martinsen Art Gallery Exhibit Director & Assistant to the Vice-President of Academic Affairs (Whitney 145F). All interested artists who wish to display in the gallery must complete the Art Gallery Application and Agreement to Exhibit form. The Martinsen Art Gallery was created by Ivar Richard “Dick” Martinsen, Art Instructor and Head of the Humanities Division at Sheridan College, Sheridan, WY. Dick started up the college’s art department in 1952 when he moved to Sheridan. He retired in 1985 after teaching at Sheridan College for 33 years, and the art gallery he created was officially named after him. The “Martinsen Gallery” continues to showcase the works of local artists.
