NOTSTOCK 2013 THANK YOU Each year I spend the day after NOTSTOCK reflecting on the event. I feel exceptionally fortunate to work with so many exceptional people to create a host of memorable experiences. Such love and generosity and new friends completely blow me away every year. Like James, Billy, and Mark said at the podcast, the event is so rewarding because of the people who are involved. Thank you so much for being a part of NOTSTOCK with me. Words are not enough to express the gratitude and joy I experience each year. Thank you to all our guest artists—Billy Baumann, Mark Brickey the King of NOTSTOCK, James Flames, Jessica Christy, Sean Scott, Kendra Rodgers, Sam Cook, Portland Cello Project, Adventures in Design, and the North Dakota Museum of Art. Thanks to all the local bands that played, especially Wild Hands and Roughriders. Thanks to all the faculty members in English, Music, Art, Theatre, Broadcasting, and Foreign Language who worked closely with me and Bill to coordinate each separate event—Sarah Aleshire for WordStock, Erik Anderson for PCP concert, Linda Olson for PotStock, Carlen Gilseth for theatre improv, Ryan Stander and Jessica Christy for screenprinting workshops, Andrea Donovan for NDMOA exhibit, JF Mondon for foreign language workshop, Kevin Neuharth for Aleshire Theatre, and Audra Myerchin and Neil Roberts for broadcasting classes. Thanks to all other faculty who also assisted with the events and included the artists in your classes. Thanks 62 Doors Gallery & Studios for the awesome reception, curating the poster show, burning screens, staffing the DIY screen printing tables, and keeping us laughing. I couldn’t ask for a better crew to work with each year. Thanks to numerous students and faculty who volunteered. Special thanks to Takuma Abe, Max Patzner, Anzley Harmon, Josh Collins, Daniel Johnson, Chris Stroschein, and Joe Davis for your unique and important contributions in the event. Thanks Art Club and English Club for your work. Thanks to Magic City Campus, North Dakota Humanities Council, North Dakota Council in the Arts, MSU Center for Engaged Teaching and Learning, and numerous people and departments at MSU (you know who you are) for supporting and making the event possible. Thanks French Paper and Speedball for sponsoring the event. Thanks, Jill Hambek at the Minot Daily, Zac Demers at the Red and Green, Linda Benson and Susan Ness at MSU PIO, and local media for coverage of the event. Thanks to everyone who came and made a t-shirt, listened to music, wrote or read a poem, saw an exhibit, viewed posters and printers, came to a presentation or workshop, threw a pot, and created some kind of art. Thanks to all the teachers and students who traveled and participated in the event. Thanks, as well, to the community members who attended and participated. Finally, thanks Bill Harbort and Sarah Aleshire, for your never-ending support and assistance with the event. I couldn’t ask for better colleagues and friends. NOTSTOCK 2014, here we come! Laurie
