NPR is right- the gays arent like people, and you cant just talk to them politely like you would someone totally normal. Here are some of my tips- 1. Remember, the gays spook easily, so use a quiet, calm voice when addressing them; try not to make direct eye contact as this may be seen as an aggressive challenge to their dominance. 2. If a lesbian seems shy, try coaxing her out of her shell with an organic quinoa salad; tell her youre super into shifting the patriarchal paradigm, and want to talk about all her feelings. 3. If youre looking for a conversation starter, remember that gay men like shiny things, so be prepared to talk about glitter and sequins.
