NRPA, in partnership with several Internet companies, is proud to announce the completion of the world’s first VIRTUAL park. This new park, available completely ONLINE, is the culmination of two years of research & development. “We are very excited about this project as it epitomizes the three pillars of conservation, health and wellness, and social equity,” said NRPA President and CEO Barbara Tulipane. In a recent speech to key stakeholder groups, Tulipane outlined how this project aligns with the pillars. Conservation—“Being virtual means that no natural resources were used in the creation of this public space and that no future resources will be compromised.” Health and Wellness—“The various activities available in this park require complex clicking and visual tracking. Plus, this can all be done on mobile devices.” Social Equity—“This park is not only available to all Americans, but it is available to people from around the world, providing the best example of social equity in parks and recreation.” NRPA will be hosting and supporting the virtual park, which opens today.
