NSA Surveillance! Let me be blunt right from the start. I do - TopicsExpress

NSA Surveillance! Let me be blunt right from the start. I do NOT like it for multiple reasons. However, suppose the Post Master General of the United States sent out a memo to all Post Master to be on the lookout for packages and/or letters with a return address from a known (and I emphasize KNOWN) terrorist organization from a foreign land. Let’s say the return address is labeled: Terrorist R’ Us 1212 Blow’em Up Highway Tehran, Iran 12345 Let’s say it is addressed to your neighbor. Now the Post Master does not open the package, but is instructed to alert the Post Master General who then alerts the NSA that the letter was sent to your neighbor from the above stated address. Now the address is label is clearly seen on the package. The package is never opened. Would this be no different than what the NSA is doing (or at least what they say they are doing? ) Now the only difference being, if reports are correct, that a data base is being kept of all our phone calls. I do not want, nor do I see the need for the government (a government I do not trust) to keep a record of how many times I call my mother. But if they were not keeping a data base, would you still have a problem with this type of surveillance? Something further to think upon: If they didn’t alert the NSA and a bomb exploded in Time Square and people were killed and it could have been prevent, we would not hold the head of the NSA and the Post Master culpable for not sharing this information (oh, how we love to finger point). What say you?
