NUTRITION TIP: Just like the rest of our body, our bones are in a constant process of wasting away and regrowth. Weight-bearing exercise is great for us because it promotes more bone growth, leading to denser and stronger bones, which is particularly important for women. And of course for this growth to occur our body needs to have enough calcium. But the benefits of calcium aren’t just limited to our bones. Did you know, for example, that when you dont have enough calcium your muscles cant contract properly? Also, calcium has been found to help lose fat around your midsection. Its believed that the reasons for this are that it suppresses a hormone called calcitrol, which is responsible for producing fat and reducing fat burning, and that it decreases the amount of fat absorbed by the intestines. – Fabian.
