NUTRITION TIP: Why are fried foods so bad for us? Simply because they absorb lots of oil during frying, which means lots of calories. Oil is a very calorie-dense food – it has more than double the calories of sugar per gram. When you consider that just one tablespoon of oil contains 120 calories, it doesnt take much to turn an innocent food into a weight gain disaster! For example, 310g of baked potato has about 290 calories. If you were to make French fries from that potato instead, you would have about 160g of fries (a large serving at Burger King) containing about 530 calories! – Fabian.
