NWS WINTER WEATHER OUTLOOK The overall forecast philosophy - TopicsExpress

NWS WINTER WEATHER OUTLOOK The overall forecast philosophy remains similar to that of yesterday, with regard to the winter weather potential this weekend in Arkansas. Precipitation is expected to start late Saturday night across southwest sections of state, then spreading to northeast sections by Sunday afternoon. Near surface temperatures will support freezing at the time of precipitation onset. Southerly low level flow will increase on Sunday, and temperatures are expected to rise. Precipitation in the form of freezing rain will become liquid rainfall accordingly. NWS forecasters will continue to examine the period of changeover from freezing rain and sleet to rain, as the duration of which will determine any impacts on travel. If any winter weather advisories are issued, they can be viewed immediately at the map at the top of this web page: srh.noaa.gov/lzk/. Through the weekend, detailed forecasts for specific locations in Arkansas from the National Weather Service can also be found at that link.
