NYC Casting for a graphic musical, LAST DAYS OF KARTIKA, in the Brick Theatre’s Comic Book Theatre Festival. The Last Days of Kartika is an online graphic musical that uses Funk, Soul, and Hip Hop music to tell the story of the citizens of Kartika during their most troublesome times. A series of webisodes, culminate into a one act live motion comic combined with new musical works. The project brings the motion comic to life, merging its digital avatar with a real time theatrical production. Seeking: Dusky Diana- African American/Latina/Mixed race. Mezzo Soprano with strong Belt voice. Athletic dancer build (please refer to motion comic). Lelu- African American/Latina/Mixed race. Teenage little sister to Dusky Diana. Soprano with Belt or strong mix. Kevin Chen- Boyfriend to Dusky Diana. Charming, confident, street smart. Spoken word or Emcee experience a plus. Pookie Black/Guy 1- African American, Tenor, Little Richard style vocals. Guy 2- Baritone, spoken word or Emcee experience a plus. Girl 1- Alto, spoken word or Emcee experience a plus. Rehearsals dates Mid-April - May. Tech and Performance dates are TBD by Festival. Small stipend. Auditions will be held Saturday April 5th and are by appointment only. You will be asked to perform a monologue from any work of your choosing, in addition to singing 16 bars acapella from any Soul, Funk, or Hip Hop work.
