NYC IS SENDING SPECIAL RESPONSE TEAM TO BUFFALO AP NEW YORK -- The New York City fire department is sending a federally trained response team to Buffalo, where it will help coordinate snow recovery. FDNY Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro (NY-groh) says 35 members of the departments Incident Management Team have been deployed at the request of the states Division of Homeland Security. Theyre also coordinating with New York Citys Office of Emergency Management. Other fire, police and emergency medical responders from across the state have already been working in the affected towns and cities. IMTs help oversee large-scale, long-duration emergencies. New York Citys team has previously helped with forest fires; Hurricane Katrina; and the storms Irene and Sandy in New York. The department has more than 180 IMTs from all ranks.
