Namaskaram friends! The moon was big and beautiful as it rose into the sky last night. And a beautiful time to reflect on all the teachers that have guided me along this yogic river. In the Indian tradition, this full moon is known as Guru Purnima, a celebration honoring spiritual & academic teachers. The Sanskrit root Gu means darkness or ignorance. Ru denotes the remover of that darkness. Therefore one who removes darkness of our ignorance and guides us towards the light is a Guru. Deep and humble pranams to all of my teachers and most importantly some of my biggest influences who were among the first to usher me down the river...Kali Ray & Lynne Andrews, Erich Schiffman, Shiva Rea, Lorin Roche, and many many more! A bow of gratitude to all who have allowed me to guide you, because it is you who also teach me so much about life, our human interactions and relationships! And a huge pranam to my beacon of light, partner in crime, love of my life...my Jimmy and our fur babies who teach me and enlighten me every single day! “I am indebted to my parents for living, but to my teachers for living in rhythm” adapted from Alexander the Great Gratitude to Roberto for the quote above!
