Name: Vernon R. Keuck Dates: Birth date: March 31, 1921 Death date: April 27, 2014 Obituary: Vernon R. Keuck, age 93, of Elkhorn, Nebraska, formerly of Council Bluffs, passed away April 27, 2014. Vernon was born March 31, 1921, in Moville, Iowa, to the late Bernhardt and Emma (Wieck) Keuck. He was raised on a farm in Moville. After graduating from high school, he served in the Army Air Corps in England as a glider mechanic. It was there where he met his wife, Kathleen Cook. They were married in London, England on November 7, 1945. Vernon and Kathleen moved to America making their home in Sioux City, Iowa, where Vernon was a truck mechanic and truck driver. They then moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa, where he joined the Army Reserves and was also employed with the Department of Defense as a maintenance shop supervisor. Vernon enjoyed fishing trips to Canada and hunting with his sons. He and Kathleen enjoyed many years of camping throughout the U.S. and traveled the world via military planes. In later years, Vernon enjoyed making model airplanes from WWII. Vernon was member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Elkhorn, Nebraska. In addition to his parents, Vernon was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 68 years, Kathleen; 4 children, and 8 grandchildren, daughter, Delicia (Bill) Borchers of Sheldon, Iowa, and their children, Brent (Aly) Borchers of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Erica (Darren) Wanek of North Liberty, Iowa, Erin (Steve) McDowell of North Liberty, Iowa; son, Keith (Debbie) Keuck of Okoboji, Iowa and their son, Kenny (Katie) Keuck of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter, Diane (Dr. Randy, M.D.) Neumann of Omaha, Nebraska and their sons, Ben (Jackie) Neumann of Hoboken, New Jersey, Jon Neumann of New York City, New York; son, Kevin (Susie) Keuck of Council Bluffs and their children, Lindsay Keuck of Omaha, Nebraska and Quentin Keuck of Council Bluffs, Iowa; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Dolores Koehler of Moville, Iowa; many nieces and nephews. Vernon was a beloved Christian husband and father. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
