Their supposed defeat came at the hands of the Holy Knights, but rumors continued to persist that they were still alive. One decade in the future, the Holy Knights organized a coup détat, committing regicide against their king, and became the new rulers of the domain. The third princess, Elizabeth, then started on a journey to find the Seven Deadly Sins, believing them to be the only ones who could defeat the Holy Knights; after coming across Meliodas, and discovering him to be one of the Seven Deadly Sins, she joins him in his similar journey to find the rest. Antagonists[edit] Holy Knights[edit] Holy Knights (聖騎士 Seikishi) - The Holy Knights are the most powerful knights in Britannia who protect the kingdom, being terrifying individuals who are each able to match an entire countrys army in strength. Sometime before the beginning of the series, the Holy Knights orchestrated a coup détat and captured the king of Britannia. The kingdom, now under the control of the Holy Knights, fell into a state of distress as citizens from towns and villages surrounding the kingdom were enslaved or forcefully recruited into joining a furtive war effort; the men trained as soldiers, while women and children forced to amass food for storage, and the elderly made to construct castle walls. Under the rule of the Holy Knights, death is the penalty for insubordination. Zaratras (ザラトラス) - He was the Great Holy Knight of the kingdom before being assassinated for an unknown reason, with the Seven Deadly sins being framed for the murder. He was once the strongest of the Holy Knights before his death ten years prior to the beginning of the series. He is the father of the Holy Knight, Gilthunder. Gilthunder (ギルサンダー) - A Holy Knight with dominion over magic that allows him to generate and manipulate lightning. He is the son of the deceased Great Holy Knight, Zaratras, and desires revenge for his fathers death. Geera (ギーラ) - A Holy Knight who killed herself to access the Capital of the Dead. She is a very dedicated knight who is so faithful that she killed herself in order to chase Elizabeth and the Seven Deadly Sins who entered the Capital of the Dead. She is extremely confident in her abilities and strength. This shown through how fearless she is when she takes on both Diane and Meliodas together at once. Jericho (ジェリコ) - An apprentice Holy Knight who serves under the Weird Fangs. She is currently stationed at Baste Dungeon where Ban is imprisoned.
