Nanny Washburn, born in 1900, was a Georgia white cotton mill - TopicsExpress

Nanny Washburn, born in 1900, was a Georgia white cotton mill worker who joined the Party here in Atlanta early on and was taught to read by Angelo Herndon, a black comrade. When the Party retreated from the South in the 50s, Nanny continued her political work here. Jailed numerous times, she never missed a demonstration or an opportunity to support the civil rights movement. Trained as a nurse, she took part in the Selma-to-Montgomery march and helped cook and take care of people. She was an early member of the Georgia Communist League, which later became the October League then CPML. In the mid-seventies we did a pamphlet about her life, and she described in her own words her experiences. I have a copy of this pamphlet and would like to share it with others, but dont know of any place I could post it. Any ideas?
