Native American prayer, by Dennis Binns...... Great Spirit, Almighty Healer and Creator of all things, with humbled hearts we gather together to offer up many thanks. We thank you for the streams that flow from snow-capped mountains, over the waterfalls and around the rocks, and rushing toward their ultimate destinations. We thank you for the knowledge that in life we happen upon many obstacles that we must overcome, with the strength we have been given, to ultimately unite together in one common body. We thank you for showing us that this is the only way we can bring back balance. We thank you for the trees that supply both the air we breathe and the wisdom that can be found when we learn to listen. We thank you for our food and ask for its blessing. We thank you for the waters that also serve to hydrate our bodies. We thank you for all two-leggeds, four-leggeds, swimmers, fliers and crawlers. We ask for strength and guidance to continue along our path each day. We ask for patience and understanding when we tend to want things to happen quickly, knowing that there are times when we must wait for things to come together first. We ask for greater understanding of diverse cultures and people, for we know that it is this understanding that enable us to live together peacefully. We ask for your healing hands to be ploaced upon those that are suffering through diverse diseases, disorders and ailments. We ask for more people to understand that all that we need for our cures have been supplied by you in the many herbs and plants. We ask for peace in a war-weary world, where greed continues to divide. We ask for an end to the abductions, abuse and violence perpetrated against our women and children. We ask for better opportunities for those that are homeless and destitute. We ask for mercy for those that would do evil against us and grant them understanding and guidance. We ask for protection, strength and guidance for those that stand against the onslaught of destruction to our Earth Mother. We ask for protection for all that remain defenseless. We continue to ask for the release of all our Brothers, like Leonard Peltier, that have been imprisoned for crimes they did not commit. We ask for an end to modern-day slavery. We thank you, Father, for our Elders. They have given us many lessons and wisdom to carry through to the next generation. We thank you for our children that continue to remind us of lessons long forgotten. We thank you for our family and friends that support us along our path. We thank you for the knowledge that all life is sacred and should be respected. We thank you for Grandfather Sun as he lights our way, Grandmother Moon as she watches over us during our slumber, Father Sky that continues to protect us all and our Earth Mother that supplies us with all we need to survive. We thank you for all blessings and gifts. Emenv
