Nawaz has to prove Pakistan is in safe hands: Soz √RAJA Srinagar, Oct 20: Asserting that dialogue is the only way that could keep friendship between India and Pakistan intact, the State Congress chief Prof Saifudin Soz Sunday said there were many centers of power in Pakistan and “now the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has to prove that his country is in safe hands.” Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function at the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) headquarters here, Soz said there are many centers of power in Pakistan including Army, militants, Prime Minister’s office and others. “Nawaz has to prove that his Government and the country are in safe hands. This is his issue to deal with,” Soz said in reply to a query as to whether ceasefire violations on the Line of Control have strained relationship between India and Pakistan. He said the civil society of Pakistan has understood that they have to live in a friendly atmosphere with India. “Whenever Pakistan would choose confrontation, it would affect the country’s development and society,” Soz said. On tension along the LoC, Soz said Pakistan can’t force India to accept things through its military might. “India won’t accept anything if Pakistan resorts to confrontation. Dialogue is the only option that can keep the two countries together in a peaceful atmosphere. India is committed to a sustained dialogue,” Soz said. He said Pakistan needs to look into as to why shelling takes place on the LoC. “It is Pakistan’s responsibility to see who resorts to shelling on borders. Pakistan wanted to promote infiltration, which is a proven case now, but it won’t benefit them,” Soz said. India, he said, is giving them a befitting reply. “Many people (militants) died on LoC while sneaking in. A couple may have managed to enter; they are being also dealt with. India is a biggest democracy; things like infiltration won’t distract it from continuing the dialogue (with Pakistan).” To a query whether Army was siding with BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendera Modi of late, Soz said: “Army is a disciplined force; they would never help or side with Modi who spreads communal hatred. Modi will come to know soon that people of India are with secularism and hate communal politics.” About the alleged venomous statements by the National Conference Additional General Secretary Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal, Soz said the NC leader doesn’t know what he speaks. “Our senior leader Ghulam Rasool Kar has already made it clear that Congress doesn’t take Kamaal’s statements seriously.” Pertinently, Kamaal had recently stated that Congress had been facilitating killing of NC workers and that the party was supported by the Army in 2002 and 2008 Assembly elections.
