Ndux Junior to release new album Khona Sizake Sibone August 24, 2013 Local News Saturday Leisure Reporter BULAWAYO-BASED singer Witness ‘Ndux Junior’ Malaba, son of the late Nduna “Ndux Malax” Malaba is set to give a special present to his fans in the form of an album, his seventh titled Khona Sizake Sibone, to be released in October. In an interview, Ndux Junior said he will be recording the album in Harare and his band, Batshele Brothers, are working hard in preparation for the recordings that will start next month. “I have recorded my previous albums in South Africa, but now I will be using a studio in Harare. The album will have six perfectly recorded tracks and fans should look out for these,” he said. Ndux Junior added that his group will soon embark on a countrywide tour to promote the new album. “We will be staging live shows across the country and on Saturday (tonight) we will be in Gwanda at Cry Mantengwane, then will come back for shows in Bulawayo where we will be having shows week in week out. We want fans to have a taste of our music before we release the album, so that when we release, they will run after it,” he said. At one time the musician relocated to South Africa where he was lucky to be alive after being knifed during a robbery in Johannesburg. He said the attack happened after he had performed at the Safari International Hotel in the tough Hillbrow neighbourhood around 3am on a Sunday. “I was confronted by three knife-wielding thugs. One of them stabbed me in the thigh and the knife broke in two, leaving a blade stuck inside me. I can’t imagine what could have happened if the knife had not snapped,” he said. Ndux Junior like Peter Moyo, Morgan and Tendai Dembo and Derrick Majaivana took over the reigns from their fathers after their deaths. Ndux Junior became famous after playing in popular Zimbabwean nightclubs in Johannesburg and regular gigs at his father’s old stomping ground of Kezi and Plumtree. He performs his own songs and some from Ndux Malax’s old hits. Ndux Junior said he is working extra hard on this next album because he wants to surpass the level he set in the previous album, Akuvumi Ngithule, which received a fair share of air play locally and in SA. The musician said his sixth album had depth that showed his growth in the music industry and he wants to maintain that. “The last album was more of a social commentary of the Zimbabwean community and it showed maturity on my part. I want to surpass the standards that were set by that album. I want fans to see that we are here to stay and give them good music on every album,” he said. The album had songs such as Akuvumi Ngithule the title track which encourages people to work hard for their wealth instead of using evil means that include goblins to amass riches. The second song is called Amalobolo and explains the importance of the bride price. The third song, called Mfundisi, urges pastors to lead by example. Bajola Ngama Facebook is the fourth song and it talks about people who are now abusing social networks. Ndux Junior’s other albums are Sengikhona, Sigida Sindawonye, Sokumnandi la, Sekunjalo and Fakimali Uzobona.
