Nepal to get pro treat in Sri Lanka tour National cricket team is all set to get what the Nepal coach Pubudu Dassanayake wanted from the Sri Lanka tour to prepare for next month’s ACC Emerging Teams Cup to be held in Singapore. Nepal will play four 50-over- a-side practice matches against the Sri Lankan U-23 side — the same team which will compete in the Emerging Teams Cup — apart from another match against a combined North East team. Apart from that ‚ the Nepali team will also play against North East-XI. Sri Lanka have been drawn in Group ‘B’ in the August 17-25 Emerging Teams Cup ‚ while Nepal are in Group ‘A’ alongside India ‚ Pakistan and Afghanistan. The Emerging Teams Cup includes full strength sides from the Associate nations and U-23 teams from the Test playing nations. Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) arranged the tour under the auspices of Sri Lanka Cricket. Dassanayake and ACC Development Officer Rumesh Ratnayake coordinated for the practice matches. Dassanayake thanked CAN for arranging the tour. “Full credit to CAN because they did well to arrange the ‘professional tour’ by corresponding with the Sri Lankan board. Rumesh and I just coordinated to get the matches against the U-23 team. The U-23 side is still going to be very tough for us‚” Dassanayake told in talking with us. Nepal will have six practice session and five matches in their 15-day Sri Lanka tour before the team leaves for Singapore to participate in the ACC Emerging Teams Cup directly from the island country. According to coach Dassanayake‚ Sri Lanka Cricket offered the match against North East- XI to promote the North- East part of the country. The Sri Lankan board has also hired few local net bowlers for Nepal’s practice sessions.
