Networking to Find a New Old Home I am sure you all have gotten to the point where you say enough done on your current home. If we do any additional work on this house we probably will not get it out of it when we sell it. We are to that point where we are ready for our next home. This will be our last big home that we will restore. We are not getting old just finding that we do not want to move again after this next house :) We are true Victorians at heart as we like our treasures. The last move was huge and this next one will be the same if not worse as much is still packed from 3+ years ago. We ran out of display room. I am not sure if anyone on here knows of a great old house that is for sale. We are on most of the sites from Circa to Old House Dreams to Historical Properties to Oldhouses. There are so many houses out there but we are particular (as you can imagine). Should be 4500+ sq ft, prefer Victorian (or Arts & Crafts but few A&C over 2500 sq ft) and move in ready meaning we can restore/renovate/update as we live there. We are not looking to buy a house where raccoons, bats, birds and other critters are occupants :) I think we are looking more east than west. What I mean by this is seeking a house Missouri and east. Houses out west are more expensive and typically not our style. We like George Barber designed homes but far from required. The fancier the better though :) We can always put the makeup on it to make it a painted lady. We can do great with an old home as we have done it already on previous homes. We are seeking a house as original as possible..you know where grandma has lived for 50+ years and what was good enough back then is good now :) We are not looking to spend a ton on a house (under $500K) as restorations are nevfer inexpensive as we all know in here! Plus never buy the most expensive house on the block. Buy the lowest and most run down and make it increase in value. We want to be a near to a larger city as both of us love theatre, museums, antiquing and other cultural things. We also tend to travel a lot so we do not want to be far from a major airport. We also need to be near hardware stores or building centers like Menards or Home Depot as we are tired of driving an hour to get to one. We are in a great house now but it is too small at 4000+ sq ft and the town closes down October - April. We have had enough of this quaintness. Suggestions and help are greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
